What the Apple iPad lacks

The Apple iPad will be a glorified iTouch, with better connectivity.

First off, it will have no camera. None whatsoever. (Although there are people who say that there are some camera kits available)
Then, no GPS whatsoever for the entry level model ($499), and only assistive GPS for the higher end level. This means, no cellular of Wi-Fi signal, no GPS.
Also, no multitasking
No USB (and the need to synch with a computer).
No HDMI out, thus VGA resolutions
No 16:9, thus 4:3 formats
No Flash (yes, ten inch screen with no Flash support). No SD cards.

The branch did not fall too far from the trunk indeed.

  1. It seems like there is a recurring theme surrounding the latest apple products, the reliability has become second to developing the aesthetics and the battery-life problems still have not been solved, have Apple’s previous successes gone to their heads? Will the iPad be a slave to this?

I was just reading an interesting in-depth article on this topic here: http://bit.ly/bf2tXx which is certainly worth a browse. Personally I am a massive fan of apple products but I have been becoming increasingly more aware of the move towards style over substance.
