Attendees to the Museums on the Web Conference are invited to attend the the pre-conference trip to West Lafayette. Purdue is a leader in the fields of information visualization, location-aware applications, and wireless communication. There you’ll experience an interactive location-aware environment, Visible Past, including interaction in a dedicated facility (CAVE) with virtual, 3D, fully immersive models of Ancient Rome, the Omana Beach Battlefield, and the Purdue Campus. Your tour will continue with a campus walk that supports a location–aware environment. You’ll be introduced to various methods of distributing information through cell phones and of linking information to specific locations. Finally, you’ll see the Envision Lab and the location-aware enabled E-Stadium, which will give you a chance to learn more about cutting edge research on location-aware and visualization techniques at Purdue. Lunch is included.
