Harvard Dataverse helps researchers publish their data and papers

The Dataverse Network is an open-source web application supported by Harvard University, which offers a free and flexible framework for dataset citation, curation, and management. It allows researchers to deposit their datasets and to share them with persistent, unique URL’s (think DOI). At the Microsoft Faculty Summit Merce Crosas, one of the project leaders, provided examples showing how an individual dataverse can be used by researchers, journals, archives and others who might produce or organize data. In particular, a dataverse increases scholarly recognition, controls distribution of datasets, secures formal citations for data, provides legal protection and ensures long-term preservation.
